Beautiful Peyto Lake in Banff National Park

Prepare to be captivated by the striking beauty of this vibrant blue glacier-fed lake, situated approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of Lake Louise within the exquisite Banff National Park. A must-see stopover for travelers journeying along the famed Icefields Parkway, this lake owes its stunning hue to the infusion of glacial rock flour during the summer months.
Beholding this natural wonder is truly a feast for the eyes, but it is not the only one of its kind in Banff National Park. Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Emerald Lake, Sherbrooke Lake, Bow Lake, and Hector Lake are all magnificent blue lakes that are easily accessible to visitors. You can hike up to Bow Summit, the highest point in the Canadian Rockies, and also around the lake marveling at the color.
Peyto Lake Fishing: You can fish the lake from June 29 to October 31.
The lake is fed by Peyto Creek, which drains water from Caldron Lake and Peyto Glacier (part of the Wapta Icefield). Peyto Lake is the source of the Mistaya River, which heads northwest from the lake’s outflow.
